Carnival Open House Wrap Up

After two busy weeks of crafting, I am finally sharing some photos from the BRAND PHOTODESIGN Open House Event last weekend! As an added note, my photos will not do theirs justice, so I am excited for when they will post the event photos!

I was kind enough to be invited as part of the planning process for this event! I was in charge of the "Arts and Crafts Area" where Art Lessons and Parties by Nicole Lewis and my Rainbow Crayons were featured. Debbie with Table Tops for Tots provided the cutest child-friendly chairs and tables for my Rainbow Crayon area where families could try out my newest Rainbow Crayon shapes and sizes!

Jamee with Setting the Mood is a special event design and decor specialist. Her work is so stunning that words cannot describe (so check out the latest parties and events she has designed...including a candy bar and a Confessions of a Shopaholic party). She created everything you see in the photos that was carnival themed. If you attended, she was the wonder-women behind the food counter setting out and cooking all the delicious treats!

The event was AMAZING with tons of free food, games, and prizes. We even had an indoor bounce house and cotton candy station! Dan and Brooke Brand are amazing photographers and I was very impressed with their photography, professionalism, and facility. I look forward to working with them in the future both with my art, and future photography needs!

Hopefully, you are attending this AWESOME Carnival themed open house at BRAND PHOTODESIGN (behind the Target on 116th Street). There will be tons of activities, a photo booth area, and great food. Plus... everything is FREE and kid or adult friendly!

Open House Carnival

WOW! Another school year has come and boy, has this summer been busy with lots of art projects! This week, I added another very large project to my plate, but I am SO excited to share this with you!

I was contacted last week by Debbie with Table Tops for Tots, about an open house event she is providing tables and activities for. This open house is for a really great photo studio in Fishers called BRAND PHOTODESIGN. This week, we had a "meeting of the minds" to plan for this event and I also got to meet Jamee Bryant of Setting the Mood. I had seen her work about a week ago through a friend's blog post and really loved her work as a special event design and decor company (if you have not checked out her website, make sure you click on this link).

Art 2 the Extreme (me) will be providing a Rainbow Crayon Art station, along with some goodies and give aways. Make sure you fill out your raffle tickets for a chance to win a FREE Private Art Lesson or a Rainbow Crayon Gift Basket with every crayon we make! Plus, there are going to be tons of awesome giveaways!

So now there are four of us working on this awesome event! What is this great event you may ask? We are throwing an open house carnival party and YOU are invited to join us! Come alone, invite friends, or bring your family!

We will have carnival snack food, unique treats, raffle prizes, a bounce house, face painting, arts & crafts, cotton candy, games, and more at our open house!!!

Kara's 1/2 Birthday!

It is always nice to be able to celebrate your birthday in the summer (I have a summer birthday myself coming up)! Today I am sharing colorful photos from Kara's 1/2 birthday party!

Totally Tie Dye T-Shirts

Today's Featured Private Lesson is for the Totally Tie Dye T-Shirts!

I had the wonderful experience last week to work with four young artists (preschool, kindergarten, 5th grade, and 8th grade) to create some awesome wearable works of art! Artists learned how to create a bull's eye, swirl, lines, and a V style design on their shirts, which turned out amazing! The great thing about tie dye is that no matter the age or ability, all artists are able to create something they can be proud of!

Learn how to tie-dye in a variety of colors to create a one-of-a-kind shirt. Already know how to tie-dye? That is great! Learn new ways to fold and dye shirts for different looks and patterns unique to your wardrobe. Artists may tie-dye as many items as they wish within the hour time period. Every tried tie-dying socks, pillowcases, or even a small blanket? Be creative and have the freedom to create multiple pieces!

When One Door Closes..

Another one opens!

The school year is officially over and I am ready for summer. I am going to miss my staff and students greatly, but it is on to the next adventure for me. I am so excited for the programs and parties I am offering this summer with lots more fun to come!

Welcome to Art Lessons and Parties by Nicole

Welcome and thank you so much for visiting! I am so thrilled to be offering a wide variety of Art lessons and Programming for Summer 2010 in the Indianapolis and surrounding communities. As an art educator, I am learning the hard way that the Arts are being incorporated less and less into schools, requiring unique and creative solutions elsewhere for our future artists. Please check out my programming and Art Parties available this summer.

Why Art Lessons by Nicole?

Both in and out of my classroom teaching, I pride myself in designing creative lessons and units. I have set up my Art Lesson programming by topic and medium, allowing for student artists to select their own projects and lessons by interest. In my teaching, I take the time to teach art that many classroom teachers would not touch until students are in high school or college. This is the beauty of on-on-one and small group lessons.

For example, in my own elementary classroom, my first grade students learned how to screen-print their own t-shirts. This is something I was not exposed to or taught as an artist until college at Ball State. This is my most popular lesson students have registered for this summer.
